Master's Degree (M.Ed.) in Elementary Education (K-6)

The Master's Degree in Elementary Education provides an opportunity for teachers to earn a 36- credit master’s degree to advance their knowledge in the field of elementary education. Students will have an opportunity to deepen their pedagogical knowledge and content knowledge through flexible coursework.

This hybrid program contains flexible schedules to allow coursework to be completed while teaching. Students may begin the program in January, May, or August and can complete the degree in 24 months. Electives allow students to customize this degree to their specific interests in the field.

The MASTER’S DEGREE in ELEMENTARY EDUCATION provides an opportunity for CERTIFIED ELEMENTARY TEACHERS to earn an advanced degree in their field. Applicants who are eligible for temporary certification may apply; however, this degree does not offer student teaching or internship requirements for certification by the FL Dept. of Education.

Courses related to Elementary Education can be selected with advisor approval from the College of Education, College of Arts and Letters, and/or College of Science.

Admission Requirements

Application will require applicant to submit:

  • Official transcripts including all undergraduate coursework and evidence of bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university (3.0 GPA required)
  • Personal Statement outlining interest in the program
  • Resume
  • Two letters of recommendation that highlight the candidate's academic potential
  • Any additional requirements for the degree for which you are applying that are listed on the application

After your application is completed, it will be forwarded to the Department of Curriculum & Instruction for a decision.

How to Apply

To be considered for admission into masters programs in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, applicants must complete a graduate application through the Graduate College.
