Carol Arias, Director
Greetings! My name is Carol Arias, and I am originally from Costa Rica. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and a Master’s in Political Science and Government. I have had the privilege of working at Florida Atlantic University since 2017—first in the College of Medicine and most recently as the Assistant Director for Employer and Community Engagement at the Career Center.

My expertise in community engagement and project management has allowed me to create impactful initiatives that drive workforce development and student success.

I was honored to receive the Professional Staff Development Award for the Student Affairs Unit in recognition of my work in employer and community engagement. I have had the opportunity to present at multiple conferences on topics such as career development, soft skills, and large event management techniques.

Additionally, I have proudly served as a Boca Chamber Ambassador, representing FAU and strengthening partnerships within the local business community. I am fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through fitness, gardening, and traveling.

 

Lisa Valjin, Administrative Assistant
Lisa serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Institute of Government (IOG) at Florida Atlantic University. Since joining Florida Atlantic in 2003, she has contributed over 20 years of administrative and coordination expertise, consistently supporting the university’s mission.

Lisa oversees a broad range of administrative functions, ensuring compliance with university policies and maintaining the integrity of records and processes. Her detail-oriented approach and strong commitment to customer service help facilitate efficient operations and uphold the institution’s high administrative standards. Prior to her work with the IOG, Lisa served as Coordinator of Administrative Services and Assistant to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, where she played a key role in supporting academic leadership and student success initiatives. Lisa is a proud magna cum laude graduate of Florida Atlantic University, a reflection of her dedication to both academic and professional excellence.
