Marching Owls Staff
Kyle Prescott is the Director of Bands and Coordinator of Winds and Percussion at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. His responsibilities include conducting the University Wind Ensemble and coordinating all aspects of a comprehensive university bands program, as well as teaching graduate instrumental conducting. He holds an undergraduate degree from the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho, and the Master of Music and the Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Wind Conducting from The University of Texas at Austin, where his principal conducting teacher was Jerry F. Junkin. Additionally, he has also worked with exemplary conductors through fourteen international conducting symposia.
Prior to his work at The University of Texas, Dr. Prescott conducted high school and university bands in Idaho and Montana for eight years. Ensembles under his direction have been invited to perform at the Northwest Division Conference of the National Association for Music Education in 1997 and 1999, the Southern Division Conference of the College Band Directors National Association in 2008 and the Florida Music Educators Association Conference in 2009. He is current Florida State Chair of CBDNA, and Conductor and Music Director of South Florida's professional wind band, the Florida Wind Symphony.
Sean P. Murray , Associate Director of Bands, Director of the FAU Marching Owls. His primary responsibilities include the direction of the Florida Atlantic Marching Owls and supervision of the athletic band program, including the men’s and women’s basketball bands. Additional responsibilities include teaching courses within the music education curriculum. Dr. Murray holds his Bachelor of Music Education degree, Master of Music Education degree and PhD. from the Florida State University College of Music.
Dr. Murray taught six years of public school in Tampa, Florida. He is a member of FBA, MENC, CBDNA and WASBE. He is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha, Pi Kappa Lambda, and holds honorary memberships in Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi. Dr. Murray is an active guest clinician, conductor, and adjudicator in the state of Florida. He was appointed to the faculty at Florida Atlantic University in 2006.
