CDT Shingle very recently graduated from the rigorous U.S. Army Air Assault School held at the famed U.S. Military Academy (USMA), also known as “West Point.” The rigorous and specialized Air Assault training course is designed to train warriors in the art and science of air assault operations and helicopter-based infantry tactics.

Following his graduation from the elite Air Assault program, CDT Shingle transitioned directly to the 10th Regiment, Advanced Camp at Ft. Knox, KY. Advanced Camp is a 37-day course where ROTC Cadets must demonstrate critical combat skills such as small unit tactics, leadership, land navigation, and rifle marksmanship learned and developed throughout the multi-year Army ROTC developmental program. Upon graduation from Florida Atlantic and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant, CDT Shingle intends to serve as an Infantry Officer with a goal to eventually serve as a Military Intelligence Officer.

In that capacity, he trains and leads a highly disciplined and motivated FAU ROTC team who will compete in the 6th Brigade competition in Ft Benning, GA in January 2026. In his personal endeavors, he plans to attain a national personal trainer certification so that he may help train and mentor others to achieve their fitness and health goals.

CDT Shingle reported that “Serving my country has always been a goal of mine, ever since I was a child. I will be a fourth-generation military service member. My father served in the Army, my grandfather served in the Marine Corps, both of whom were Infantrymen, and my great grandfather had also served in the Army as a tanker. I believe serving one’s country is the greatest thing a man can do.” He also stated proudly, “Go Owls!

The MVSS team looks very forward to following CDT Shingle’s career as a commissioned officer in the United States Army and as Florida Atlantic Alumnus.
