On June 12, 2025, the Division of Student Affairs, Military and Veteran Student Success (MVSS), College of Nursing, Canines Providing Assistance to Wounded Warriors (C-P.A.W.W.), FAU Athletics, Mr. Conrad Ogletree, and partners from Veterans and Homefront Voices celebrated National Women Veterans Recognition Day at the FAU Flagler Credit Union Stadium, Genesis Club. This special event was designed to highlight the extraordinary service of women in our Florida Atlantic military-connected student community, Army ROTC - Talon Battalion, faculty, professional and support staff, and to strengthen the broader veteran community in South Florida. Guests heard from Candy Wilson, Ph.D., APRN, Colonel (Retired), U.S. Air Force, Nurse Corps, and Associate Dean for Nursing Research and Professor, FAU, Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, who shared her heroic account of volunteering to serve in Afghanistan and other theaters. Attendees heard similar accounts from two other special women veteran guest speakers.
MVSS Coordinator/School Certifying Official Tucker Bileau, an eight-year U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, attended the National Women Veterans Recognition Day event to honor all the women who sacrificed and served their country. Tucker, along with a number of active duty and reserve military service members, and veterans, were recognized in a concluding ceremony where they each received a commemorative service plaque and a special handmade patriotic quilt from The Quilts of Valor Foundation.
