Volunteer and Professional Service cord
The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing Community/Professional Service Cord is a distinguished service cord available to students who volunteer at the college and participate in approved community service activities.
In recognition of this achievement, recipients will receive a service cord to wear with their robes during the Pinning/Graduation ceremony. The student will have a picture taken with the Dean and recognized in communication channels such as social media or the college’s newsletter.
Examples of acceptable events
• Nursing organization events (Example: SNA group events such as volunteering at a homeless shelter, Walk-a-Thon, community donation drive, etc.)
• Attending Florida Atlantic recruitment events such as Explore FAU, A Day in the Life of a Nurse, etc.
• Research Day, Healing for Healers Night, American Heart Association Walk, Make a Wish Foundation, Memory and Wellness Walk, Breast Cancer Walk, etc.
• Assisting with or actively participating in CON events such as the White Coat Ceremony, Pinning, etc
• Serving on CON committees such as the Committee on Students and Committee on Programs, Strategic Planning Project teams.
• Volunteer for College of Nursing-affiliated events.
• Participate in CON-sponsored or approved affiliate events.
