Roslyn Pechet

Roslyn Pechet was inspired to pursue a career in nursing by her parents, child Holocaust survivors who worked in health care.

Scheduled to graduate from the master’s of Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner program in spring 2025 and complete the BSN-DNP program the following fall, Roslyn hopes to make a real difference as a nurse leader.

“I was raised in a household where pursuing health, staying active and increasing knowledge to help others were canons,” she shared.

Knowing where her parents had come from and listening to what they had gone through while remaining dedicated to the care of others has made the highest impact on Roslyn’s career choices.

Earning Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees in nursing will change Roslyn’s path from following orders to leading patient care, allowing her to develop and implement provider-driven, patient-centered treatment plans.

Working as a graduate teaching assistant at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing for multiple semesters has allowed Roslyn to see how consistent feedback helps propel the Freshmen Direct Admit and the Health Science students in their academic journeys.

“Supporting the next generation of future nurses motivates me,” she said. “My work with undergraduate students has been very inspiring and rewarding.”

Roslyn emphasized that her work with College of Nursing faculty within the Caring-based Community & Academic Relationships for Excellence (CARE): Nurse-led Mobile Health Unit helped her grow as a competent nurse leader.

In addition to working as a registered nurse and her full-time studies, Roslyn has volunteered for pediatric school physicals with Dr. Nancy Harris and at the Women’s Circle in Lake Worth using Florence Nightingale’s environmental theory as guidance.

“Everything is different when transplanting to the United States from Central America, South America and the Caribbean islands,” she noted. “I want immigrants to grow, flourish and improve their health.”

Roslyn is the student representative for the DNP Program Committee for 2025. She shared that seeing the immense amount of planning that goes into the process of the DNP graduate program has been a rich learning experience as well.

She credits multiple faculty and peer mentors for providing guidance during her time in the program, including Drs. Debra Hain, Nancy Harris, Lynn Palma, Tamara Love and Marie Tamara Adonis-Rizzo.

“They encouraged me to look at the bigger health and economic picture to advance nurse leadership and community involvement towards helping older populations,” she stated.

Roslyn earned an associate and bachelor's degree in nursing at Palm Beach State College, an MBA in Healthcare Management from WGU and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University.

She currently works as an RN, serving on the travel nurse team within the HCA East Florida Division.

After graduation, Roslyn plans to join a practice to help older adults thrive throughout their lifespan. She hopes to increase her volunteer work, give back to the College of Nursing by precepting graduate students and return to the college to acquire the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
