Nursing Students and Faculty Recognized at 10th Annual Student Publication Ceremony

Christina Dimeo (BSN), Kerry-Ann Dixon (Ph.D.) and alumna Raquel Panos are among Florida Atlantic University students recognized for their published work. The nursing students received the Provost’s Certificate of Recognition for Publishing during the 10th Annual Student Publication Ceremony on March 19, 2025. Dimeo and Dixon’s article, "Drug Intoxication among Latino Opioid Users in Florida," in Innovation in Aging was highlighted along with Dixon’s article, "If I knew what was going on with me, then I probably wouldn't feel so sad or scared," a study exploring health disparities for Black pregnant women, published in the Journal of Family Strength .
Drs. Subhosit Ray and Debarshi Datta were also honored for their joint research article, "Feature Identification Using Interpretability Machine Learning Predicting Risk Factors for Disease Severity of In-Patients with COVID-19 in South Florida," a collaboration between the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing and Charles E. Schmidt College of Science.
Dean Cameron Duncan presented the certificates of recognition to the nursing students and faculty and congratulated them on their outstanding contributions to the academic community.
The ceremony, which highlighted research published in summer 2024, fall 2024, and spring 2025, is intended to raise awareness of the published work of undergraduate and graduate students and faculty. The event was sponsored by the Writing Across the Curriculum and the University Center for Excellence in Writing.
