The Christine E. Lynn Advanced Nursing Simulation Clinic officially opened at Florida Atlantic University’s College of Nursing in Boca Raton with a program and reception on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Florida Atlantic President Adam Hasner joined Provost Russell Ivy, Dean Cameron Duncan and clinic donors Christine E. Lynn, Dr. Hank Drummond, divisional senior vice president, Cross Country Healthcare, and Eileen Manniste, chief nursing officer, Broward Health for the ribbon cutting ceremony and tours of the clinic.

The new clinic features cutting-edge technologies and specialty units including an emergency department bay with cots and high-fidelity mannequins, an Intensive Care Unit, medical-surgical suites, a labor and delivery room with a newborn stabilization unit, a birthing bed with a high-fidelity labor/delivery mannequin, a pediatric unit, and a home health and hospice room.

“The simulation clinic is a state-of-the-art facility for undergraduate and graduate students to sharpen their critical thinking and hands-on skills in a safe and risk-free environment,” said Duncan. “More than ever, nursing students must be fully prepared to transition to hospital systems and complex health care environments with high-tech skills to address challenging situations.”

The program also included the portrait unveiling of Dr. Safiya George, the third Dean in the college’s four-decade history. Dr. George, president, University of the Virgin Islands, expressed her appreciation for the recognition and completion of the simulation clinic which was among her priorities as Dean.

State Senate Minority Leader Lori Berman, State Representative Peggy Gossett-Seidman, Palm Beach County Vice Mayor Sarah Baxter, Deerfield Beach Mayor Todd Drosky, Deerfield Beach District 4 Commissioner Tom Plaut were among the elected officials who attended the event with Florida Atlantic leaders.
