Biography
Dr. Breanne Levarity is a faculty member in the undergraduate nursing program at the College of Nursing. She earned her Ph.D. in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University in 2014. Before entering nursing, she worked as a chemist in a research and development lab in Miami, Florida, and later completed her BSN through the University of Miami’s Accelerated Program.
Her clinical background includes cardiac interventional care, diagnostic procedures, and case management. She also served as a preceptor for novice nurses. This experience, combined with her background in research, sparked her passion for nursing education and academic scholarship.
During her doctoral studies, Dr. Levarity served as both a Graduate Teaching Assistant and a Graduate Research Assistant. She was also selected for the National Science Foundation Research Traineeship in Data Science Technologies and Applications, where she received advanced training in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical methods at FAU’s College of Computer Science and Engineering. Her research focuses on trauma clusters, a term she established to describe the occurrence of multiple natural disasters in close succession, and their effects on population health and healthcare delivery.
