This concentration provides graduates with the advanced skills and knowledge to assume the role of Adult/Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with an emphasis on responding to calls from adolescents, adults, and older adults. The Adult Gero Nurse Practitioner curriculum requires a total of 52 credit hours and 780 clinical hours, effective Fall 2024. The program follows a part-time format of study only. Attainment of competencies may require more than 780 hours. Placements may occur in health department clinics, private practice offices, home health agencies, community-based health centers, hospitals, long-term care institutions, and other settings providing health care to adolescents, adults, and older adults. Graduates of the Adult/Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Concentration Program are eligible to sit for the Certification Examination offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). We offer the AGNP concentration on three campuses: Boca Raton, Davie, and Harbor Branch.
Applicants considering the Harbor Branch (HBOI) campus in Fort Pierce should be advised that the program location is expected to transition to the Jupiter campus in the near future. As a result, students admitted under the HBOI campus designation should anticipate completing their in-person coursework at the Jupiter campus.
