Housing Information

Students are strongly encouraged to consider their housing options before arriving at the university. FAU does not have temporary short-term or emergency housing. Students can choose to live on-campus (in a residence hall with other FAU students) or live off-campus (in a rented apartment). Housing arrangements are a personal choice and International Student Services is unable to assist students with housing arrangements.

Exchange students (coming to FAU as part of an overseas university agreement) should contact the Education Abroad office for housing assistance.

On-campus Housing:

On-campus housing at FAU is available on the Boca Raton Campus and the Jupiter campus. On-campus housing includes residential halls and apartment-style living. Living on campus can be very convenient. Most university buildings are about five to ten minutes walking distance from the residence halls. If you live on campus, you don’t have to worry about parking or getting to class on time. You also have a great community of friends and access to all campus activities. You have greater opportunities to become involved with the university, make friends, and have the full university life experience.

Off-campus Housing:

If you would like to live off-campus, locating your apartment will be your responsibility. Finding an apartment sometimes takes time; do your research in advance and plan to arrive to Florida early so you can visit apartments for rent, purchase furniture (if necessary) Students living off campus are part of the FAU community and are permitted to use the services provided to all registered FAU students. However, off campus housing requires a student to be more responsible for their transportation to campus.
