Darien Satterfield, Ph.D., is a behavioral ecologist and evolutionary biologist who studies collective behaviors such as schooling, ecological predictors of behavioral diversity and macroevolutionary relationships between morphology and behavior in fishes.

Currently, her work is establishing social movement rules that regulate organized swimming in blacktip shark schooling aggregations in Florida's intercoastal waters.

Satterfield received her master's from California State University, Long Beach, and her doctorate degree from University of California, Davis.

She said she is devoted to mentorship and dismantling barriers to science and academia.
