  • Researcher, The Gottman Institute. Helped validate Gottman Method Couples Therapy for couples seeking therapy following an affair's discovery.
  • Chair, Counselor Community Engagement (CCE) Committee. Responsible for promoting committee growth and excellence in counseling through active engagement in community-based activities/endeavors.
  • Co-Chair, Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) Florida Statewide Conference Planning Committee. Assisted in developing one of the largest annual Florida Statewide CSI conferences.

THOUGHTS TO SHARE:

I strongly believe that learning is a lifelong process. Maintaining this attitude and engaging in a routine process of reflexivity has dramatically impacted my professional and personal journey. Remaining perpetually curious, open-minded, and willing to ask for help is also crucial to becoming a professional counselor and leader in this field. I have been fortunate to have incredible faculty and mentors guide me throughout this process. This gift is one that I hope to pay forward to future mentees.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

Domestic & Intimate Partner Violence: Provided therapeutic support to 150+ survivors and their families in Palm Beach County for the healing of relationship trauma as the primary therapist for Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA). This included consultation and training of counselors, law enforcement, judicial officials, healthcare workers, and advocates on the impact of domestic violence on survivors’ mental and emotional health.

Infant, Child, and Adolescent Emotional Wellness: Lead clinician for the emotional wellness and healthy attachment of children throughout Palm Beach County as a co-located school therapist. This role afforded me the opportunity to also provide consultation to educational stakeholders on the implementation of a trauma informed approaches toward academic instruction and social emotional learning.

K-12 Classroom Teacher of elementary, middle and high school students for over 10 years.

THOUGHTS TO SHARE:

Education is one of society’s most powerful tools to bridge the divisive gaps attributed to poverty, discrimination, and abuse. My counseling and teaching practices are strongly rooted in empowerment, advocacy, and resilience of both my clients and students. As a counselor, I am privileged to share emotional space with clients as we explore their strengths and build personal autonomy in their health and happiness. Similarly, as an educator, I aim to cultivate an emotionally safe learning environment for students to practice skills, develop reflective insight, and contribute toward others’ journeys along the way.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

Counseling, Community Engagement and Grant Writing: Supported over 500 youth in Miami and Broward counties in drug prevention measures and conducted all data analysis reliant to the continuity of grant funding for programmatic objectives.

Presentation, Disability Career Counseling and Mentor:  Aided over 300 persons with disabilities, obtain and maintain employment.

Emergency Management, Spiritual Guidance and Project Implementation: Supported over 100 faith-based institutions in providing natural disaster continuity strategies. Over 10 years of spiritual, faith-based counseling to individuals, couples, families, teens and children.

Distance Learning Teaching and Higher Education Instructor: Focused on disseminating counseling/sociological and research content base on empirical theories and evidence-based techniques, to graduate and undergraduate students.

THOUGHTS TO SHARE:

There is much responsibility that comes with achievement. I take my roles very seriously and with great care and commitment I serve others. Whether I am teaching, counseling, or providing spiritual guidance I see myself as a conduit for a bigger purpose, bigger than me. This approach keeps me grounded, humble and ever learning.
