Master of Fine Arts in Visual Art

The M.F.A. in Visual Art is designed to further the conceptual development, aesthetic presentation, technical skill, and career goals of the M.F.A. candidates. M.F.A. degrees are offered in the following studio concentrations: Concentrations: Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, Sculpture and Book Arts (Boca Raton campus), and Graphic Design (Davie Campus).




The Department of Visual Arts & Art History through the D. F. Schmidt College of Arts & Letters is able to offer a limited number of Graduate Teaching Assistantships to qualified graduate students.  Full-time assistantships include a full tuition waiver of up to 27 graduate credits within a 12-month period and a stipend for work in instructional-related activity for up to 20 hours per week.  Half-time assistantships may also be available.  While assistantships are not guaranteed from year to year, the department endeavors to provide support for up to the normal three-year period that one needs to complete the MFA degree.  Additional financial support is available in the form of recruitment grants through the Graduate College on a year-by-year basis.  For more information on financial support for graduate study, please see the Graduate College website:  http://www.fau.edu/graduate/resources/index.php
