University Advising Services’ (UAS) primary focus is first and second year students. UAS will provide a safety net for any student not sure where to go for help. In support of this mission, the UAS office will offer a broad, comprehensive array of services aimed at aiding students in developing and implementing an appropriate and meaningful education plan.
The academic advising program is based on the Appreciative Advising model. It is the intentional collaborative practice of asking positive, open-ended questions that help students optimize their educational experience and achieve their dreams, goals and potential. The advisee and advisor, as partners, work together to discover the student’s passions and dreams, design a plan to achieve those dreams, deliver on that plan, and make changes as necessary to achieve their goals.
UAS will work with any student who walks through the door, listen to their needs and provide advising, resources, information, and referrals to the appropriate office and individuals as needed.

Starting Jan. 5, 2015, FAU will open the “garage doors” to offer a unique service aimed toward commuter and evening students called Get Wise: Advising On the Go! This one stop shop will be located in the security buildings of student parking garages 1 and 2. Parking Garage 1 will be staffed Mondays from 5 - 7 p.m. and Parking Garage 2 will be staffed Thursdays from 5 -7 p.m. Hours for the rest of the semester will be based on need and interest.
