Welcome to the Center for Teaching and Learning
CTL Academic Support Update:
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at Florida Atlantic University is dedicated to ensuring the academic success of every student and to providing faculty the necessary tools and resources to excel in teaching. Our ultimate goal is the creation of a culture of engagement, where students become fully engaged in the learning process, both with their instructors and with their peers; and where faculty from diverse disciplines can engage one another in the pedagogy of teaching, with the ultimate goal of enhancing student learning.
The CTL is located in General Classroom South on the 2nd floor, and provides a variety of support services to help students succeed. The Math Learning Center provides free math tutoring to students online (on a drop-in basis) and face to face (limited) by appointment only. The University Center for Excellence in Writing provides appointment-based support to help all members of the University community to enhance their writing online only this fall semester. While we support all campuses, there is only one center. Please note we are now using a new scheduling system, WCONLINE. Directions for using it are posted on our website. The Center for Learning And Student Success (CLASS) provides free Supplemental Instruction, tutoring, and other support to students in courses throughout the Boca Raton and Broward campuses. Online support is also available. CLASS also provides a variety of programs to support students in their academic journey, from learning community programs to success workshops.
To enhance teaching, faculty development is coordinated by the Director for the Scholarship of Teaching within the CTL. Faculty learning communities, collaboration with eLearning and a Master Teacher program engage faculty across all campuses on a variety of topics regarding pedagogy.
The Office for Undergraduate Research and Inquiry provides additional opportunities through the CTL to engage undergraduate students in research and inquiry with graduate students and faculty.
