Honoring Memorial Day at Florida Atlantic

As we approach Memorial Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the meaning and importance of this national holiday — which is to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their extraordinary courage and sacrifices have secured our freedoms as Americans, and it is our privilege and responsibility to ensure their legacy is never forgotten.

At Florida Atlantic, we take great pride in supporting our veterans, servicemembers, and military-affiliated students. This week, the Military and Veterans Student Success Center hosted a Moment of Reflection and Silence to pay tribute to our fallen heroes. We are grateful to MVSSC for bringing our university community together in appreciation for this meaningful holiday and those it honors.

As a reminder, Florida Atlantic University will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day and no classes will be held. I hope you will take this time to honor our nation’s heroes in your own way, and I wish you and your families a safe and pleasant weekend.
