Congratulations, Owl Doctors!

This morning, we proudly celebrated the graduation of the ninth class of physicians from the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. The 64 graduates began their academic journey in 2019 and set high standards for achievement that were honored today as they walked across the stage to receive their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degrees.

During the ceremony, we had the pleasure of hearing a keynote address from American speedskater Brittany Bowe ’10, a three-time Olympian and two-time Olympic medalist. We thank her for sharing her experiences both on and off the ice, inspiring FAU’s newest class of physicians, as well as their families and guests in the audience.

In March, the class celebrated a 100% match rate during the nation’s annual Match Day event, where each FAU graduate discovered their residency placement. Many in the class placed in top universities in Florida and across the country, entering highly competitive specialties such as plastic surgery, psychiatry, orthopedic surgery, dermatology, neurological surgery and ophthalmology, among others. Their accomplishments at Florida Atlantic and their esteemed residency placements speak volumes about our graduates’ talents, ambitions and abilities.

With our nation’s growing demand for physicians, these graduates await a promising and fulfilling career in medicine that is more important than ever. As they enter their specialized fields, I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

Congratulations, Owl doctors! We are very proud of you!
