Florida Atlantic University will serve as both host and competitor for the inaugural Susan Stocker Mock Trial Tournament. FAU’s Mock Trial program, housed within the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice, will have four teams in the tournament, competing against a total field of 12 teams.

Led by its two advisors, Frank de la Torre and Joel Feldman, and fresh off a national runner-up finish in December 2025, the FAU teams will compete against the University of Florida, Florida International University, Florida State University and Texas Tech University. The three-day tournament competition begins on Friday, April 10, and will conclude with winners and an award presentation on Sunday, April 12.

“This inaugural tournament is a defining moment for our college and for Florida Atlantic University, signaling our growing prominence as a destination for excellence in legal education and experiential learning,” said Naelys Luna, Ph.D., dean of the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice. “Welcoming top student competitors from throughout Florida and as far as Texas, underscores the strength of our programs and the national reach we are continuing to build. We are deeply grateful to the Susan Stocker Foundation for their visionary support, which is helping us create transformative opportunities for students to develop the advocacy, analytical and courtroom skills that will shape their futures and the future of the justice system.”

The Stocker Family Charitable Foundation is the exclusive visionary partner sponsor of the competition. This transformational investment celebrates the legacy of Susan Stocker, a respected CPA whose career embodied integrity, precision, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to excellence – values that mirror the discipline and rigor required of trial advocacy and legal practice.
