Application and Admissions
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Have a documented significant intellectual and developmental disability
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have graduated from high school
- Be capable of meeting personal needs without assistance
- Be able to self-administer any necessary medication
- Display appropriate behaviors
- Have the capability to participate in 50 to 90 minute classes
- Navigate the campus independently
- The first semester is probationary
Application Process
- Download the Application Packet (See below).
- Qualified applicants will be contacted for a student and family interview.
- Applicants will be notified by mail of their acceptance.
- Students are admitted to the Academy in the fall of each academic year.
Application Checklist
- Review the ACI Application Information Packet (pdf)
- Complete the Academy for Community Inclusion (ACI) application
- Submit copies of the following:
- Most recent Individual Education Plan (IEP)
- Most recent psychological or psycho-educational evaluation
- High school diploma or certificate
- High school transcript showing proof of graduation
- Recent photo/headshot of applicant
- 3 letters of recommendation: 2 professional and 1 personal
- Signed FAU ACI Applicant Contract (pdf)
- Signed Parent/Guardian/Caretaker Memorandum of Understanding (pdf)
