Construction Administration Certificate Program (CACP)

Take all seven classes to receive the Construction Administration Certificate Program (CACP). OR just choose the classes that fit your needs. FAU has developed a basic program that introduces you to reading, understanding, using blueprints and estimating in the construction industry. The program consists of comprehensive basic blueprint reading, construction math, and estimating courses. The Blueprint Reading, Construction Math, and Estimating courses include an excellent introduction to construction industry.

Course Descriptions


DLC-00: Digital Literacy for Construction

Prerequisite course for the Construction Management Certificate Program (CMCP) and the Construction Administration Certificate Program (CACP). Introduction to digital literacy to promote success in these certificate programs.  (This course can be taken simultaneously with any CACP or CMCP courses).

$175 - 8 Hours, 0.8 FAU CEUs


Blueprint/Print Reading - Residential

This class is an introduction to blueprint reading. Participants will be able to interpret common symbols, notations, line weights and types, calculate the scale of a drawing and recognize the language and abbreviations used in construction plans. Participants will analyze a full set of residential blueprints that include architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans. By the end of this class participants will have a basic knowledge of how to read residential prints.

$329 - 20 hours: 2 FAU CEUs


Blueprint/Print Reading - Commercial 1

This second print reading class will introduce participants to commercial blueprints, as well as the Site and MEP drawings of commercial blueprints. It will cover the architectural and structural elements in detail for commercial projects and other elements of site work such as sewer, water, drainage, paving, landscape, etc. It will also cover Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical and Plumbing drawings. By the completion of this course participants will have a working knowledge of the elements within a building and the associated interrelationships.

$329 - 20 hours: 2 FAU CEUs


Construction Math

Prior to enrolling in the estimating courses participants must be proficient in math as it pertains to construction. This class will help you understand how to complete the necessary calculations using a construction calculator. The Construction Master Pro Calculator Model 4065, v.3.1 by Calculated Industries is a requirement for this course.

Estimating 1

A basic knowledge of blueprint reading is required. This class prepares participants for basic interpretation and understanding of the estimating process including the different levels of an estimate, organizing take offs, and summarization. A brief introduction will be given regarding the use of Excel to estimate a project. Using the Construction Specification Institute's 16 Divisions, this class covers estimating a light commercial construction project. The Construction Math course is a prerequisite to this course.

REQUIRED MATERIALS: Construction Master Pro Calculator, Model 4065, v3.1 is required. 
PC required plus Microsoft Excel for a PC

$299 - 20 hours: 2 FAU CEUs


Estimating 2

A basic knowledge of blueprint reading is required. This class covers estimating a residential construction project using the Construction Specification Institute's 16 Divisions. The Construction Math course is a prerequisite to this course.

PC required plus Microsoft Excel for a PC .

Estimating 3

A basic knowledge of blueprint reading is required. This final class in estimating covers a commercial construction project using the Construction Specification Institute's 16 Divisions. The Construction Math course is a prerequisite to this course.
