The Minor (18 credits)
The department offers a minor in Linguistics consisting of 18 credits (3 required courses and 3 electives). Students majoring in a language are strongly encouraged to double-major or minor in Linguistics.
The three courses (9 credits) required for a minor are the following:

3010 Intro to Linguistics (prerequisite for
most ling. courses, should be taken as soon as possible)
LIN 4326
Contrastive Phonology
LIN 4680 Structure of
English or FRE/GER/SPN 4850 Structure of
French/German/Spanish
The three Departmental electives (9 credits) are to be chosen in consultation with the advisor.
