I am delighted to share that Florida Atlantic’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters has received a significant gift commitment from the Edith and Martin Stein Family Foundation to support performances and arts education at the University’s Theatre Lab. To recognize this gift, we celebrated the naming of the Edith and Martin Stein Family Foundation Atrium at Theatre Lab with a reception in honor of Edith Stein and her late husband, Martin Stein.

Theatre Lab was established in 2015 as the University’s professional resident theater company, and Edith and Martin Stein are hailed as its first season benefactors. The Stein Family’s latest gift creates an endowment to provide perpetual support of the program, allowing it to continue serving as a distinctive cultural resource for students, patrons, performers and playwrights. Theatre Lab also is home to several educational outreach programs, including the Future PAGES Project and the Teaching Artist’s Institute.

As steadfast supporters of Theatre Lab since its inception, the Stein family’s generosity has helped make the program an integral platform that has a major influence on American theater. We sincerely appreciate this new gift from the Edith and Martin Stein Family Foundation, and we are proud that everyone who enters Theatre Lab, whether for a performance, rehearsal, or workshop, will know the Steins helped make it possible.
