FAU Foundation Celebrates Record-Setting Year

Thursday, Jul 14, 2022

I am thrilled to announce that fiscal year 2021-22, which ended June 30, was another record-breaking year fundraising year for Florida Atlantic. The FAU Foundation raised $81.24 million from more than 5,332 donors! This breaks the previous record of $56.5 million in 2020-21 and affirms the University’s upward trajectory for growth.

Included in this total is the largest gift in university history — a $28 million estate pledge from John and Ann Wood to provide scholarships for students enrolled In the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. Their gift, announced in May, is the largest known scholarship gift to a Florida public university’s medical school. We also received multi-million dollar gifts from Michelle and Michael Hagerty to support the football team and the Hagerty Family Head Football Coach, the Bartley J. Madden Foundation to establish the Madden Center for Value Creation in the College of Business, an anonymous donor to support the Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program, and emeritus professor and alumnus Eric Shaw ’72, ’73, Ph.D., to benefit various athletics, business, arts and letters, and other university programs.

Kudos to the Division of Institutional Advancement staff and the FAU Foundation Board of Directors. I truly appreciate their hard work, and I congratulate them on another record-breaking year.

Thank you to all our donors who contributed to this outstanding fundraising year. Your generous gifts, large and small, provide valuable opportunities for FAU’s talented students to pursue a world-class education and realize their full potential, regardless of their background. Together, we are helping to ensure success for all.
