A Special Message from President Kelly

To the FAU community,

By now, I am sure you are aware of my decision to step down as FAU president at the end of this calendar year.

I know changes such as these can create uncertainty. Please know that I will work diligently for the remainder of my presidency to ensure this wonderful university stays on its upward path.

Rest assured, the university will remain in good hands after I leave office. I know this will be the case because your important work will continue under the new leadership. After all, it truly is the students, faculty, and staff who make this university so successful.

My decision to step aside as president comes at a time that I believe is not only right for me personally, but also right for the university. My new role as University President Emeritus will afford me the time and flexibility to complete certain projects that are important to me personally, and are important to the Board of Trustees, also.

I firmly believe this will be of great benefit to the university.

My time as president has been wonderful, and I am looking forward to this exciting new chapter. But I’m not done, yet!

This fall, the FAU Owls will play their final football season in Conference USA before moving to the American Athletic Conference. We will welcome a new Freshman class, new and returning faculty, and many visitors to our beautiful campuses. I am looking forward to the many university events that fill the Fall semester calendar.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable summer and you can spend as much time as possible with your family and friends. I will stay in touch as we move toward the end of the year. If I see you around campus, please stop to say hello.

Thank you, and Go Owls!

John Kelly
President
