Celebrate FAU Basketball at Paradise Madness Event

Wednesday, Oct 25, 2023

Tonight, the Florida Atlantic men's and women's basketball teams will celebrate the start of a new season in the American Athletic Conference with the annual Paradise Madness event. Taking place at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will start at 7 p.m. The night will include a light show, spirit squad performance, skills challenge and dunk contest.

The men's basketball team recently was ranked No. 10 in the nation in the Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll, following a historic 2022-23 campaign that ended at the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, the team was ranked No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, with players Alijah Martin and Johnell Davis named to the Preseason All-Conference First Team and recognized as Preseason Players of the Year. Davis also was named to the 2024 Jerry West Award Watch List by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The team’s first home game is Nov. 14 against Eastern Michigan and its first conference game is Jan. 2 against East Carolina at Baldwin Arena.

On the women’s basketball team, Aniya Hubbard was named to The American’s Preseason All-Conference Second Team for her success with leading the team in scoring, steals and Freshman of the Week honors. The team will play in an exhibition contest against Barry on Nov. 1 at Baldwin Arena and will kick off its regular season at Mercer on Nov. 9. The Owls’ first conference matchup will take place at home against UAB on Saturday, Dec. 30.

We are incredibly proud of our men’s and women’s basketball teams for their outstanding achievements and pursuit of athletic excellence. We look forward to another impressive season of Winning in Paradise in the American Athletic Conference. I encourage the FAU family and our friends in the community to join us tonight for Paradise Madness as we celebrate the teams’ accomplishments and kick off the new season.

Go Owls!
