Owls to Compete at NCAA Championships

Friday, May 19, 2023

I am pleased to share that Florida Atlantic University’s track & field team earned high achievements at the 2023 Conference USA Outdoor Championships, closing with one outstanding Owl moving on to the NCAA Championship.

Junior Jessica Lambert won the 800m outdoor race with an incredible time of 2:06.95. Her time is the second best in Florida Atlantic history, and she now owns the top three places in FAU's 800m record book. Throughout the indoor and outdoor track seasons, Lambert broke the program’s 800m record four times and won the gold in both C-USA championships. Additionally, she was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second time.

Graduate student Madlen Kappeler was named to the All-Academic Team for the third time. Kappeler received this recognition for her success in leading the Owls in the 500m outdoor race, in which her time of 18:10.62 earned the ninth-place record in FAU history.

Up next, Lambert will compete in the NCAA regional in Jacksonville on May 26. We wish her the best of luck as she continues to make history for the University.

Go Owls!
