Celebrating 45 Years of Nursing at FAU

Friday, Apr 19, 2024

For 45 years, the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing has served as a beacon of excellence for Florida Atlantic and the nursing profession. Last night, I joined the college’s faculty, staff, students and esteemed supporters to celebrate its many years of achievement during a special event on the Boca Raton campus.

Florida Atlantic’s nursing program was introduced in 1979 as part of the original College of Social Sciences. With tremendous support from local philanthropists and a growing need to train nurses in South Florida, the program quickly developed into its own freestanding college by 1990. The college’s namesake, Christine E. Lynn, has been paramount to its success. She provided several transformational gifts to support various programs, positions and facilities that have paved the way for it to flourish.

Today, the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing plays a vital role in addressing the health care needs of our region and is ranked among the best nursing programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Emphasizing a unique philosophy of care, we are proud to offer nursing programs that support positive outcomes for both students and the patients they go on to serve. We appreciate the tremendous support the college has received since its inception and look forward to its continued success.
