Nolan Schanuel

Congratulations to baseball player Nolan Schanuel, who made history as the first Owl to be selected in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft! He was selected by the Los Angeles Angels as the 11th overall pick.

Nolan is one of the most decorated players in FAU baseball history. He recently was named a First Team All-American by D1Baseball.com and received first-team honors by the ABCA, Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game and Baseball America. He is the reigning Conference USA Player of the Year and the first player in program history to earn First Team All-American honors from three or more outlets. He also was a semifinalist for USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Award and the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award.

This season — his third as an Owl — Nolan led the nation in batting average (.447), on base percentage (.615) and walks (71). He also led C-USA in slugging percentage (.868), hits (88) and on-base plus slugging (1.483).

A Palm Beach County native, Nolan was born in Boca Raton and grew up in Boynton Beach. He attended Park Vista High School.

Congratulations again to Nolan and his family. We are so very proud of his success as an Owl and look forward to cheering him on in the big league.
