Observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Friday, Jan 17, 2025

Monday, January 20, is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a time to honor the life and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In observance of this federal holiday, Florida Atlantic will be closed.

Each year, students at institutions throughout the State University System of Florida celebrate Dr. King with events, activities and educational programs. At Florida Atlantic, students pay tribute to Dr. King and his life’s work with annual Days of Service. Today, students are volunteering at the Davie campus greenhouse, a hands-on resource for teaching and research. On Monday, students will volunteer at the City of Boca Raton Unity Celebration in Mizner Park, where they will assemble packages for Boca Helping Hands.

As we reflect on the spirit of service that Dr. King championed, I encourage everyone to take this day as an opportunity to consider how we can create a brighter future through learning and acts of service.
