On Monday, Jan. 18, our nation will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, in honor of the man whose speeches, peaceful protests, leadership and service remain an inspiration to people fighting for equality around the world.

FAU will celebrate this special day with our annual Martin Luther King Diversity Address and Day of Service on our Boca Raton, Davie and Jupiter campuses. The Diversity Address keynote speaker is Peniel Joseph, Ph.D., author of The Sword and the Shield: The Revolutionary Lives of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. He will discuss what we can learn from the lives Dr. King and Malcolm X about leadership today.

The Day of Service is an opportunity to give back to the community by volunteering at a local nonprofit organization. Registration for sites is first come, first serve. We’ve had a great response so far, and I am happy to see that two of the seven available sites already reached capacity. For more information about the Diversity Address or Day of Service, visit https://t.co/dZecCG9d02.

Most FAU offices will be closed on Monday and no classes will take place. I hope everyone has a safe and pleasant weekend.
