It’s homecoming week here at Florida Atlantic University and this year is extra special as we celebrate our 60th anniversary. As always, the week will include traditional events such as the food donation competition, Day of Service, comedy show, OwlFest on the Jupiter campus, and the Talon Leadership Awards. Exclusive to this year, there will be a Pop-Up Museum about FAU’s history in the Boca Student Union Lobby, co-sponsored by University Archives. There also will be a special 60th Anniversary Celebration on Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Boca Housing Lawn, which will feature games, prizes, food and giveaways.

On Saturday, Oct. 30, we’ll close out homecoming week with a football game against UTEP. The game kicks off at 6 p.m. The Owls have an 11-game home win streak, so we need all our fans to come out to FAU Stadium and cheer the team on to another victory. Over the past 60 years, FAU has grown to become one of the nation’s top public universities. It’s known as a place where every student — regardless of race, ethnicity, income or first-generation status — has the opportunity to achieve their dreams. Owls are graduating at higher rates than ever, with good-paying jobs and less student debt than the national average  —and we’re very proud of that. I hope all of our alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends in the community will join us in celebrating “60 Years in Paradise.” For more information about homecoming, including the full schedule of events, visit www.fau.edu/homecoming.
