Sandy Owls Win Conference, Earn Spot in NCAA Championship

Congratulations to our “Sandy Owls” beach volleyball team on winning the Conference USA Championship over the weekend! It is the team’s third conference title and its second C-USA title. Shantel Starling and Kendall Mignerey were named Pair of the Tournament, while Kate McLaughlin and Julie Honzovicova, and Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova were named to the All-Tournament Team.

As the winner of the conference tournament, the Sandy Owls earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It is the team’s third NCAA appearance. The Sandy Owls are the No. 13 seed, and they will face the No. 4 seed, Loyola Marymount University, in the opening round on Friday, May 2, at 9 a.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
