Owls Advance to the Elite Eight!

Congratulations to the men’s basketball team on making history once again! The No. 9 seed Owls have advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time ever, after defeating No. 4 seed Tennessee last night by a score of 62-55. FAU is only the seventh No. 9 seed to ever make it to the Elite Eight.

The team’s exciting victory at Madison Square Garden was led by senior guard  Michael Forrest, the all-time leading three-point shooter and No. 2 scorer in school history. He scored eight straight points, sparking an 18-2 run that gave the Owls their first lead of the night, which they maintained until the final buzzer. The Owls outscored Tennessee 40-28 in the second half as chants of F-A-U, F-A-U rang throughout The Garden. The chants continued during the post-game celebration as fans welcomed the players back to their hotel.

Congratulations also to Head Coach  Dusty May on earning his 100th career win last night! All of those wins have been in his five years at Florida Atlantic. He is a wonderful leader and we’re extremely proud of his success.

The Owls will face No. 3 seed Kansas State tomorrow at 6:09 p.m. at Madison Square Garden. The winner will move on the Final Four in Houston. Good luck to the team, and Go Owls!
