Becoming A strong candidate
We encourage FAU students to begin the process early in their college career, so they can begin building a competitive application. While each fellowship requirement varies, the following preparation should be considered:
- Maintaining a high GPA (3.5 or higher)
- Creating a four-year plan with classes that pertain to your research/professional interests
- Pursuing more from your academic experience such as:
- Obtaining mentored Undergraduate Research experience(s)
- Completing a Study Abroad experience
- Taking Writing Intensive Courses
- Applying to one of the Honors Programs
- Developing leadership/ambassadorial skills through participation in extracurricular activities: Academic Service-Learning; Community-Based Learning; Internships and Cooperative Education
- Learning a foreign language (if applicable)
- Pursuing capstone courses (see individual departments for capstone experiences)
