Bachelor of Arts Program in Philosophy
The Philosophy Department offers a program of study with an emphasis on the liberal arts and at the same time prepares the student for various career opportunities. The intellectual training provided is an excellent preparation for the study of law, the ministry, and public service professions, as well as graduate study in philosophy and related disciplines. In addition to offering the more traditional philosophy major, the Philosophy Department now also offers a philosophy major track in Pre-Law for students who wish to go on to law school.
Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy
(minimum of 120 credits required)
In addition to the University and College requirements for admission and graduation (see The Undergraduate Catalog), students majoring in Philosophy are required to earn 32 credit hours in Philosophy courses as follows, effective Fall 2005:
Major Core (21 credits, 7 courses)
One course from the group listed below: (3 credits, one course)
One course from the group listed below: (3 credits, one course)
The remaining 3 credits are electives, and may be taken from the courses listed above or from the following courses:
No grade below a C in these courses will count toward the degree, and no course in which a grade of pass or fail is earned will be counted as part of the major program.

Pre-Law Major Track

The Pre-Law track is especially designed to provide students who are majoring in philosophy with excellent preparation for the study of law.
