The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our daily lives in ways we never could have imagined. Here at FAU, we continue to educate our students via remote classes, but many are struggling personally. More than 65 percent of FAU students work to pay for their education, many in service- or retail-sector positions that have nearly disappeared as a result of social distancing. In an effort to help support these students during this unprecedented time, the university established the FAU Cares Emergency Fund.

Degree-seeking students who are experiencing financial hardship can apply for assistance through the FAU Cares Emergency Fund by clicking here . The fund can be used for education-related expenses such as room and board, tuition, and personal expenses like Wi-Fi, so they can access their remote classes.

To date, our generous donors have given more than $38,000 to support the fund, and more than 1,000 students have applied for aid. Without these funds, many our students would have to take out additional loans or drop out of FAU altogether.

I hope you will join me in supporting our Owls through the FAU Cares Emergency Fund. For more information and to donate to the fund, visit  fauf.fau.edu/fau-cares .
