I am proud to share that Florida Atlantic has received the 2024 ACE/Fidelity Investments Award for Institutional Transformation from the American Council on Education. I accepted this esteemed award on behalf of the University last night at the ACE Presidents and Chancellors Summit in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes two institutions annually that have responded to challenges in higher education and achieved dramatic results through innovative approaches.

Florida Atlantic was celebrated for its significant achievements in improving graduation and retention rates using targeted team-based analytics. The strategy began with forming groups at different levels throughout the University to analyze trends in student progress and develop various interventions. The student-centered approach included the implementation of enhanced curricula frameworks, targeted financial assistance, academic “Flight Plans” and a streamlined advising system that connects each student with a three-person support team. The Launch Scholarship also was established to help students maintain enrollment and complete their degree.

As a result of this University-wide effort, Florida Atlantic has more than doubled its four-year graduation rate in the past five years and increased the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded by 950 annually. Additionally, nearly 3,000 students have graduated who otherwise would not have finished. The outcome of this transformative approach has ensured success for all.

It is a great honor to receive the ACE/Fidelity Investments Award for Institutional Transformation, as it affirms Florida Atlantic’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. This award highlights the outstanding work of our faculty, staff and institutional leaders who have established the University as a powerhouse for transformational student impact. Florida Atlantic is on an upward trajectory, as we continue to increase graduation rates, rise in the U.S. News and other rankings and improve outcomes for all students. We are incredibly proud to be recognized for these efforts, and as a leader in higher education, by ACE.
