New Head of Equal Opportunity and Title IX Compliance Hired

Katrina Oliver, J.D., will join Florida Atlantic University as its new executive director of equity, inclusion and compliance and university Title IX coordinator on Monday, Feb. 1.


BOCA RATON, Fla. (January 21, 2016) – Katrina Oliver, J.D., will join Florida Atlantic University as its new executive director of equity, inclusion and compliance and university Title IX coordinator on Monday, Feb. 1. Oliver comes to FAU after serving as the director of Title IX and compliance at Spelman College in Atlanta.

In her role at FAU, she will provide leadership in the development, implementation and administration of policies and procedures to promote a diverse campus community and ensure compliance with Federal and State nondiscrimination, equal access, equal employment opportunity and affirmative action laws, regulations and executive orders and policies.

With 49 percent of its student body classified as minority or international students, FAU is the most racially, ethnically and culturally diverse state university in Florida.

“I’m excited to be joining FAU, and I’m looking forward to working with the administration, students, faculty and staff to ensure people of all backgrounds continue to thrive at the university,” Oliver said.

In addition to her work at Spelman, Oliver also served as the assistant director of equity and diversity at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and an equal opportunity specialist in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.

Oliver earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Georgia; a master’s degree in higher education administration and organizational management from Drexel University; and a bachelor’s degree in public policy studies from Duke University.
