As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, Florida Atlantic University will host one of six “Freedom Truck” mobile museums currently touring the United States.
The Freedom Truck exhibit will be at FAU from Friday, Feb. 20 to Monday, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., outside of the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
The mobile museum provides a walk-through exhibit featuring original historic artifacts from the nation’s founding era. With interactive content for visitors of all ages, the exhibit tells the story of how 13 colonies declared independence, defeated the greatest empire in the world and secured American sovereignty 250 years ago.
Digital displays and interactive storytelling also trace the Revolutionary War journey, along with hands-on learning modules for students and families, featuring engaging elements such as the “Are you a loyalist or patriot” quiz, a kiosk to sign your name digitally to the Declaration of Independence, and a wall of 50 American heroes.
The mobile museum tour is part of the national Freedom 250 initiative, a historic, once-in-a-generation opportunity to reflect on the country’s founding principles while rallying communities around the values that built the country.
The celebratory event, honoring the legacy, values and future of the United States of America, was unveiled at the White House in January.
