The Politics of Protest: The First Amendment and Free Expression

Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters presents the free virtual event “The Politics of Protest: The First Amendment and Free Expression” on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. Local leaders will talk about their views on petitioning the government, the role of local government, and how students can make a difference in their communities. The panelists for the event include West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James; Boynton Beach Commissioner Christina Romelus; and Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer. The panel will be moderated by Kevin Wagner, Ph.D., chair and professor of FAU’s Department of Political Science. Wagner will take questions from the audience at the end of the event.

This panel is presented as part of FAU’s Constitution Day 2020 events. It is co-sponsored by the Palm Beach County League of Women Voters and FAU’s Diversity Platform, Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, the Jack Miller Forum, FAU’s Department of Political Science, and FAU’s School of Communication and Multimedia Studies.
