Our Approach to Nutrition Counseling

Food is the most fundamental pillar of integrative health.Whether you’re managing a chronic disease, seeking weight loss, or optimizing longevity, the right nutritional choices are the medicine your body needs.

Unlike standard meal plans found online, our approach combines clinical expertise with advanced testing to create a nutrition plan tailored to your unique biology. At the Marcus Institute, we view nutrition as a primary tool for medical intervention.

Our nutrition experts—including a registered dietitian and healthcare providers—move beyond simple calorie counting. Instead, they examine how your eating habits impact inflammation, gut health, and overall wellness. We specialize in medical nutrition therapy, a clinical service that treats the whole person by addressing underlying imbalances that contribute to conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and autoimmune disorders.

Poor nutrition is a leading driver of chronic illness, yet targeted lifestyle interventions can significantly reduce your risk and improve your well-being.

Conditions We Treat

We look for the "root cause" of your symptoms. Often, issues like joint pain or fatigue can result from undetected food sensitivities or nutrient imbalances. We provide in-person and outpatient support for a wide range of needs:

Metabolic Health: Comprehensive support for pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, weight loss, and long-term weight management

Cardiovascular Health: Targeted strategies for managing hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, and heart disease

Digestive Health: Relief for IBS, bloating, and identifying food allergies

Autoimmune Conditions: Anti-inflammatory protocols for Hashimoto’s, fibromyalgia, and other inflammatory disorders

Mental Well-Being: Support for positive body image and addressing disordered eating habits

Life Stages & Unique Needs: Counseling for pediatric and adolescents to older adults requiring specific nutritional needs, as well as sports nutrition for performance

Nutrition Counseling Services and Treatments

Advanced Nutritional Testing

We take the guesswork out of healthy eating by using data. Your personalized guidance begins with understanding your body's specific requirements.

  • Food Sensitivity Testing: We identify specific reactions to foods like gluten, dairy, or sugar that may cause chronic inflammation without being full-blown allergies.
  • Gut Microbiome Analysis: We examine how gut health affects your mental and physical well-being.
  • Nutrient Deficiency Testing: We determine exactly which supplements are actually needed to optimize your physiology.

Personalized Guidance & Strategy

  • Medical Nutrition Therapy: Work with a licensed professional and nutritionist to develop a sustainable nutrition program tailored to your specific medical conditions.
  • Anti-Inflammatory Protocols: Receive guidance on removing inflammatory triggers to support your immune system and primary care goals.
  • Real-Life Meal Planning: We provide practical help with food choices and healthy food preparation that fits into a busy lifestyle, ensuring healthy eating becomes a natural habit.
  • Ongoing Support: Regular follow-ups track your progress toward your overall health goals, allowing us to adjust your plan as your quality of life improves.
