FAU Inclusive Access Module

Getting Started



As of this semester (Spring 2024), FAU is still in the piloting phase of the Follett ACCESS program, which provides students with significant discounts on course materials. This module is intended to help you guide and encourage your students to take advantage of the program and save money. Therefore, the earlier you publish you course materials. The Spring 2024 deadlines for students to opt-in or opt-out of the program are:

  • Terms 1,2,4, & 5 (full, first-half, first 5-week and second 5-week terms): January 12, 2024.
  • Term 3 & 6 (second-half and third 5-week terms): March 15, 2024.

    • This page is meant to provide you with the tools and information you need to understand the module and its contents.

    • Students are required to use different portals depending on the location of their enrolled course section. This page contains links for both the Boca Raton and Davie portals.

    • Here, your students can view our information and FAQ page which provides resources such as links to the Opt-In portal and plenty of other information explaining everything they need to know to participate in this program.

    • This page contains two types of documentation that guides your students through the Opt-In process. Both a video and a written document are available for them to learn and perform the necessary steps.
  • Publisher-Specific Instructions - publish this page
    • Here, you can find details regarding specific instructions from book publisher for accessing digital content.

 

Opt-In Process



The opt-in process happens in just 4 steps:

  1. Upon enrolling in your course, students receive an email from noreply@follett.com with a link to the opt-in portal and instructions on how to participate in the program.
  2. They will log in to the opt-in portal and choose which courses they'll be opting-in for.
  3. Charges will be added to their students accounts for the materials that they have elected to receive.
  4. Within 24-36 hours, students will be able to access their course materials. Access codes for digital materials will be delivered to students via email.

*Note*: If your course uses Honorlock or Lockdown Browser for any open-book quizzes/tests, make sure to white-list www.redshelf.com so that students are not blocked from accessing their textbooks. 

 

Sample Announcements


Below are a couple of announcements that you can customize and publish in your course. Use your course's Announcements too to get the word out so that students receive your published message as they enroll in the course. We also included a reminder example to publish during the first week of classes.

Sample 1

Title: Get discounts on course materials through FAU Follett bookstore!

Message

      Dear class,

       This course is participating in a program that brings you discounted prices on your books and materials. The Follett ACCESS program is gives you a steep discount (40% off national retail price) on your print or digital books after completing a few easy steps. The Spring 2024 deadlines for students to opt-in to or opt-out of the program are

  • Terms 1, 2, 4, & 5 (full, first-half, first 5-week and second week terms): January 12. 2024
  • Terms 3 & 6 (second-half and third 5-week terms): March 15, 2024

      Upon enrollment in this course, you should have received an email from noreply@follett.com with instructions and details on how to opt-in to the program. Follow the steps and within 24-36 hours, you'll receive a confirmation with access codes and other details. Message

      Hi class,

      This course is participating in the Follett ACCESS program which brings you significant discounts on your print/digital course materials. In order to take advantage of these prices, students need to opt-in via the Follett ACCESS Opt-In portal. By now, you should have received an email from   noreply@follett.com    with details on how to participate. Follow the steps in the email and you should have access to your materials in a timely manner.

The Spring 2024 deadlines for students to opt-in to or opt-out of the program are January 12 for Terms 1, 2, 4 & 5 and March 15 for Terms 3 & 6 . Reminder Sample

TItle: REMINDER: Opt-In Deadline for Follett ACCESS

Message

      This is just a reminder that the Spring 2024 deadlines for students to opt-in to or opt-out of the program are January 12 for Terms 1, 2, 4 & 5 and March 15 for Terms 3 & 6 (one day after end of Add/Drop period). After this date, you will be charged full-price for your course textbooks when purchasing at the FAU Bookstore.
