Dr. Burton Atkins received his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky and is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Florida State University. Prior to joining the faculty at FAU Dr. Atkins had served as chair of the political science department at FSU, was director of the FSU London Study Centre from 1992-1997 and, from 1997 until 2006, served as director of the FSU International Affairs Program. An avid supporter of international education, he had for many years organized and led study semesters abroad to London, Brussels and Paris.  His teaching focuses on American politics and the role of courts and law in political systems.
