First-Year Student Orientation, Academics, and Resources (SOAR) Dates

First-Year Student Orientation, Academics and Resources (SOAR) program at FAU shares important information with students and their families regarding academic and student services as well as what it means to be an Owl. We are committed to providing all incoming students the resources to be successful as they enter the university setting. We strive to provide excellent student experiences and knowledge about Florida Atlantic University (FAU) by way of intentional and specific programming for first-year students, transfer students and their families. Our Orientations are designed with these goals in mind.

Each session has limited space available, and is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. SOAR reservations are NOT confirmed until the orientation fee payment has been submitted. SOAR reservations close automatically once they reach full capacity. Reservations close three (3) business days before a session starts. Please do not make any travel arrangements until you have completed your reservation, paid your SOAR fee, and have received a confirmation email in your FAU inbox or spam. All SOAR session dates are not available to all students and are based on term of entry.

Due to COVID-19, STUDENTS ENTERING IN THE SUMMER will complete Orientation through a four-phase process:

  1. Phase 1 - Virtual Orientation: Complete First-Year Virtual Orientation session through Canvas.
Students should complete the Virtual Orientation course on Canvas at least five business days before their Orientation Day (Phase 3). You will receive a separate email with instructions on logging into Canvas to complete it.
  2. Phase 2 - OwlDone Day: Tuesday, May 26
Students will receive a text and other outreach from their Orientation Leader on May 26 to guide them through remaining onboarding tasks.
  3. Phase 3 – Orientation Day: Live Virtual Sessions
Students will be scheduled to attend a virtual Orientation Day session on the first day of their current Orientation reservation. Orientation Day sessions will run from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Shortly before the session begins, students will receive an email with login information. For example, students reserved to attend the June 4/5 orientation session will receive information via their FAU email to log in live at 9:30 a.m. on June 4.
