The countdown to Homecoming has begun! This year we celebrate "Building Traditions for 50 Years" as FAU celebrates its 50th anniversary. The Homecoming team is hard at work planning a spirit-filled week filled with traditional events like the 5k Run/Walk, Comedy Show, Fall Family Fest, Parade, ExtravanCANza, student organization competition, Talon Awards, King & Queen crowning and even adding a HUGE new event... the Homecoming Concert!!! Homecoming 5k Run/Walk Graphic

5k Run/Walk & Fun Run Costume Contest

4:30 pm     Track & Field, Boca Raton Campus

Lace up your athletic shoes and celebrate Homecoming 2011 by participating in the 5th Annual Homecoming 5k Run/Walk. The course will be set around the FAU Boca Raton Campus beginning near the FAU Track & Field Complex. We are excited to announce that this year's race includes a partnership with the FAU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities.  All proceeds will benefit the CARD Office, which provides support and assistance with the goal of optimizing the potential of people with austism and related disabilities.  For more information, please visit the CARD website.

FAU Students: The race is free for currently enrolled FAU Students who pre-register.  There is an opportunity for students  to donate to the FAU Card Office; however, this is completely voluntary.   FAU Students must pre-register by Thursday, October 27 at noon. This is limited to the first 500 students to register.  FAU students who miss pre-registration deadline may register on Race Day for $20.

Cool off after the 5k Run/Walk and enjoy the pool, music and food! And you don't want to miss a chance to get the FAU Homecoming beach towel. The Homecoming Court will also be announced at the Pool Party, so come hang out to hang out with your Homecoming royalty!

Homecoming Kick-Off Carnival

4:00 pm     South Housing Field, Jupiter Campus

Bring in Homecoming with style with the CarnivOWL sponsored by COSO, Housing & Residential Life, Jupiter Program Board, MacRSA and Student Involvement & Leadership. There will awesome carnival rides and attractions, side-show acts, classic carnival food and lots of chances to win OWL pride prizes.


Homecoming Kick-Off Celebration & Owl Hunt

5:00 pm     Housing Lawn, Boca Raton Campus

Kick off Homecoming Week on the Housing Lawn and enjoy bumper cars, gladiator joust, bouncy boxing, human sphere racing and other fun-filled novelties. This event will run from 5 pm - 8 pm on the Housing Lawn, but get there early while the Homecoming giveaway items and the carnival food is still there! Student organizations signed up for the OWL Prowl Competition will also be participating in the annual OWL Scavenger Hunt around campus at this time.

ExtravaCANza Graphic

ExtravaCANza:Canned Food Sculpture Contest

10:00 am     SO Building, Boca Raton Campus

Come watch student organizations go head to head in this unique Homecoming competition sponsored by the Weppner Center for Civic Engagement & Service and SAVI (Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement)! Teams race against the clock competing to build the best sculpture out of canned food items. All non-perishable items used in the sculpture building are then donated to Boca Helping Hands.


Cupcakes for Quantum

7:00 pm     SR108, Jupiter Campus

Every year during Homecoming Week, FAU's Jupiter campus likes to give back to the community. This year's volunteer event is Cupcakes for Quantum. With the help of donations from local businesses, students will be decorating cupcakes and delivering them to the Quantum House of Palm Beach County. Stop by to show your school spirit and decorate some cupcakes for a good cause.


Timucua Pageant

8:00 pm     Housing Lawn, Boca Raton Campus

The Timucua Pageant is one of FAU's longest running traditions sponsored by Housing & Residential Life. Don't miss this event to see who earns the title of Mr & Miss Timucua. Contestants will compete in several categories, including evening wear, talent and interview. The winning couple will also get VIP seats at the Homecoming Comedy Show and get to ride in the Homecoming Parade!

Ice Cream Social & Finish the Float Party

2:00 pm     SR Atrium, Jupiter Campus

Enjoy a tasty treat between classes at the Ice Cream Social while also participating in a surprise craft for Finish the Float, which will featured on the Northern Campuses Float in the Homecoming Parade.

Homecoming Comedians

Homecoming Comedy Show featuring Ralphie May, Josh Blue & Tony Roberts

8:00 pm     Kaye Auditorium, Boca Raton Campus

Enjoy a night of comedy celebrating Homecoming Week at the Kaye Auditorium in the Student Union. This show is sponsored by Student Government Program Board and is FREE to FAU students, but has limited capacity, so be sure to get your tickets early. Tickets are available to FAU students in the Box Office located in the Student Union on the Boca Raton campus. Tickets are also available on the partner campuses in their Student Involvement & Leadership offices. Tickets will be available beginning October 17, 2011.

Talon Awards Ceremony

FAU celebrates its 16th Annual Talon Awards Ceremony during Homecoming 2011. Since 1997,  the Talon Award Ceremony has recognized outstanding leaders from the community, alumni, faculty and student body. Co-sponsored by the Office of Alumni Affairs and Student Government, this year's ceremony will recognize four outstanding individuals, including an FAU student!

We are bringing the Homecoming Week celebration up another notch this year by adding a whole new event to the schedule... the HOMECOMING CONCERT featuring JAMES OTTO! Bring your blankets and get ready to enjoy our first outdoor concert during Homecoming! This show is FREE to FAU students, but has limited capacity, so be sure to get there early! There will be no entry without an OWL card.

Homecoming Parade

2011 celebrates the 5th Annual FAU Homecoming Parade. Every year, this parade gets bigger and better! We anticipate over 60 entries in this year’s parade including student organization floats, decorated golf carts, specialty cars and motorcycles, walking units, as well as several marching bands. This is truly a community event on FAU’s Boca Raton campus and we are excited to host FAU students, alumni, faculty, staff and the Boca Raton community, as well as their families, at this traditional parade.
