Financial Capability Program (Broward Residents)

The Family Success Administration Division’s Financial Capability Program integrates financial capability into our services by placing one financial coach at each Family Success Center. The financial coaches work one-on-one monthly with Broward County residents to help develop individualized financial goals and foster good financial management practices. They also assist residents with understanding secure banking options, designing a financial plan to build assets, establishing or improving credit, developing a sustainable budget and building financial confidence. In addition to financial coaching, the Financial Capability Program offers an Education Match Program to help low to middle income residents become financially independent through financial education and assistance with their post-secondary/technical school education.  

The Financial Capability Match program participants are Broward County residents that work with a financial coach to help accomplish their financial goals. The program participants meet monthly (virtually)  one-on-one with a financial coach and is required to accomplish at least two financial goals, participate in financially themed workshops, maintain a monthly budget, create a savings plan, complete assignments related to financial education, and save a minimum of $500.00 over a three (3) to eighteen (18) month period to receive a match payment of $4,000.00 towards their education.  The match payment is paid on behalf of the student to the college or technical school.  The one-time payment does not require repayment.
