Joseph Sabag
Executive Director
Joseph Sabag is an attorney and public policy professional with two decades of experience working at the intersection of government, law, and foreign relations. Over the course of his career, he has helped develop and advance dozens of legislative initiatives and major policy resolutions across more than 40 states on matters affecting U.S.-Israel relations and the Jewish community.
Joe’s career has been based in Florida, where he has played a leading role in the development of the state’s statutory and policy framework supporting the U.S.-Israel relationship and combating antisemitism. His work has contributed to major Florida initiatives involving Iran divestment, the formation of the state's anti-BDS laws opposing discriminatory commercial boycotts of Israel, law enforcement, and codifying a uniform definition of antisemitism for regulatory use.
As an attorney and policy strategist, Joe has spent much of his career translating complex policy objectives into durable legislation and effective government action. He has led the drafting and legal resourcing of model legislation subsequently adopted across much of the country, assembled expert legal resources supporting state attorneys general in major constitutional litigation, and advised public officials on significant state enforcement initiatives.
Joe has testified before governmental bodies and served as a consultant and speechwriter to senior public officials in the United States and abroad, including heads of state, U.S. Secretaries of State, presidential candidates, and members of Congress. His work has consistently involved bringing together lawmakers, attorneys, policy experts, and civic leaders to build coalitions and turn shared priorities into practical results.
As executive director of the Florida-Israel Institute, Joe brings together the central threads of his career: a deep understanding of Florida government and public policy, longstanding engagement with Israel-related issues, and extensive experience building partnerships across government and civil society.
