  • A customizable toolbar provides reading, writing, studying, and research support tools within familiar applications (i.e. Word, Google Docs, IE, Chrome, Firefox, Adobe Reader)

  • Text embedded within an image or Flash or locked PDFs - can be read aloud with Screenshot Reader

  • Text to Speech allows for read aloud with dual highlighting

  • It also allows for the reading of DAISY files

  • NOTE: This software is available free to all registered students at Florida Atlantic and can be accessed from the ReadWrite download page . To use this software, you will need to log in with your FAUNet ID.
Otter AI

Otter AI

  • Otter AI is a speech recognition and text to speech program available in app and web-based versions.

  • This application provides students a hands-free approach to notetaking.

  • Otter Ai audio records the lecture while at the same time creating a text transcript of the recording.

  • Recorded lectures can be stored for later use or download.

  • Students can export text to another program such as Microsoft Word for additional editing and annotation.

 ClassMate Reader

   ClassMate Reader

  • A multi-modal based reading approach for individuals with learning disability such as dyslexia

  • Tactile interface allows for easy navigating and its  LCD screen allows for easy visual read along

  • Plays DAISY books, MP3, MP4, EPUB, and many other media formats

  • It has a removable SD flash memory card slot that allows additional electronic materials to be saved.
 Livescribe

Livescribe Pen

  • It is a ballpoint pen with a mini embedded computer and a digital audio recorder

  • When used on a special digital paper, it records what was written and synchronizes those notes with any audio it has recorded for later uploading to a computer.

  • Users with Learning Disabilities and anxiety related to note-taking may benefit from using the pen

  • Built-in speaker allows users the choice when and where they want to listen to their audio notes
C-pen

C-Pen

  • This device is a portable and pocket-sized piece of equipment that reads text out aloud with a human-like digital voice.

  • It contains a high accuracy OCR that enables you to capture and save quotes and other text of interest instantly.

  • Pen contains high quality electronic dictionaries.

  • It also double as a USB drive with up to 3GB user space is available.
